The most wonderful time of the summer...

Ahhhh, baseball penant races, football right around the corner, and the summer olympics to boot, what a great time!

What olympic events is everyone watching?  I am hooked on swimming and volleyball.  I am also looking forward to track and table tennis (yes, table tennis, those Chinese are crazy about that sport - it should be a noisy crowd, as noisy as ping pong fans can get).

Go U.S.A.!!

R.I.P. George Carlin

Although not my favorite all-time comedian, Carlin was a trailblazer and freakin' hillarious!  His seven bad words may be what he ulimately is best known for.  What is your favorite schtick of his?

Viva la Mexico!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo to all my amigos!!  In honor of the independence of our proud neighbors to the south, I would like to pay tribute to my favorite Mexican professional athletes currently playing on NBA and MLB rosters.  In the NBA it has to be Eduardo Najera - I like the lunch-pail, hard-nosed mentality; he has been fun to watch from college at Oklahoma through the Mavericks and Nuggets in the Nothing But Attitude league.  In the MLB it is definately Adrian Gonzalez - thanks Rangers for trading him (and Chris Young) to the Padres; he hits for average and power, and his glove is muy bueno.

Via con Dios.

NL West

Ok, moving on to the left coast of the Senior Circuit - is Arizona for real; will L.A. make a charge; will San Diego's pitching get it back in the race; what about Colorado?

Florida teams

Between the division leading Marlins and Rays:  I like the Rays' chances; however, both squads have a tough road ahead by virtue of their respective divisions and the teams they must compete with.  What separates the Rays from the Marlins is their bullpen and bats.  In all probability, neither team will win their division or make it as a wild card.
